Dark red. Reticent nose hints at dark berries, savory black cherry, tobacco and fresh herbs. Nicely spicy and concentrated, this blend boasts outstanding density and impressive youthful energy to its savory, brooding dark fruit and herb flavors. Finishes with a lovely acid/fruit balance and smooth tannins, but I find it less charming and immediately appealing than the entry-level Cerasuolo di Vittoria.

The 2009 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli is 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Frappato that spent 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. It is a dynamic, poised wine loaded with black cherries, hard candy, flowers and spices. The French oak adds volume and breadth in this beautiful Sicilian red.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is one of southern Italy's most exciting red wines. It's food-friendly, fresh and easy to drink like Beaujolais, but also delivers the elegance and firmness of Pinot Noir. Try it slightly chilled with chicken, pasta or a heaping summer salad.

Crisp, clean and elegant, this selection would pair with white meat or pumpkin-stuffed ravioli. It offers a streamlined mouthfeel, with tones of raspberry and blueberry, backed by zesty acidity.

Silky and elegant, this offers delicate, enticing scents of wild red berry, rose, blue flower and baking spice. The linear, vibrant palate delivers Marasca cherry, crushed strawberry, anise and white pepper, accompanied by bright acidity and polished tannins.

The 2014 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli is a beautifully balanced and graceful wine that proudly veers to the most elegant and feminine side of the Sicilian winemaking scale. The bouquet is generous and intact with bright aromas of wild strawberry, cassis, forest bramble and blue violet. The results are tonic clean and bursting with good energy and verve. You do get those characteristic flavors of Sicily, like black olive and caper, that show up often in the island wines. The blend is 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Frappato.

Dark ruby. The deep, reticent but very pure nose features scents of black cherry and cherry cola, along with musky notes of smoky herbs. Brooding, still very youthful wine, offering dark and red fruit flavors of very good depth and sweetness. Showcases noteworthy spicy and floral qualities on a long, juicy finish featuring noble tannins and a touch of allspice. A blend of 70 percent Nero d’Avola and 30 percent Frappato.

Finely knit flavors of baked apple, honey, toasted almond and pastry dough ride the detailed mousse of this rich sparkler, enlivened by vibrant acidity that creates a mouthwatering impression on the smoke-tinged finish. Drink now through 2027.
