DescriptionGrupo Faustino is the country's leading producer of fine wines from Rioja and one of the most celebrated names in modern Spanish winemaking. Founded 150 years ago by Eleuterio Martinez Arzok, Grupo Faustino has excelled in balancing tradition and modernity over the past decades. The winery received worldwide acclaim in the 1950s when descendant Julio Faustino Martinez launched the family-owned label in both national and international markets. Today, the estate is led by Don Julio Martinez along with his children. With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino's Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the areas chalky soil.
VinificationGrapes are de-stemmed and undergo fermentation for 10 days at 84°F. The grapes then go through a 20-day maceration period. Then they are aged for a total of 41 months (17 months in 100% American oak casks and 24 months in bottle).
