DescriptionCol d'Orcia is the internationally celebrated producer of one of Italy's most revered red wines, Brunello di Montalcino. Situated on the outskirts of the medieval hilltop village of Montalcino in Tuscany's Siena province, the estate has a rich winemaking history that dates back to the 1700s. In the hands of the Cinzano family since 1973, Col d'Orcia is owned and managed today by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano.
VinificationManual harvest with rigorous selection of the best grapes in the vineyard and cellar is followed by a temperature controlled (less than 86ºF) 18-20 day fermentation on skins in shallow stainless steel tanks designed to extract tannin and color efficiently but delicately. The wine is aged three years in 25, 50 and 75hl Slovenian and Allier (French) oak casks, followed by further refinement of at least one year in bottle prior to release.
