A blend of 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne, from Israel’s Hefer Valley, where Recanati is one of the country’s most technologically innovative winery. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg is a graduate of California’s U.C. Davis wine program. With eight months of French oak aging and no ML, the wine remains lithe and graceful, sparked with good acidity and bordered with minerality. Aromas of tangerine and honeysuckle, flavors are focused on citrus and apple.

A nose of lemon sorbet and pound cake preps the palate for flavors of Seville orange, green tea and toffee. This wine is soft on the palate and has a citrus-tinged finish.

The Special Reserve in this vintage controls its wood and cream beautifully. It also shows fine grip and precision as it airs out and develops in the glass. There is a fair bit of power here and good concentration too. 

Pale yellow in the glass, this wine has a nose of citrus blossom and beeswax...rich apple flavor on the center and hazelnut and brioche flavors...finish is marked by notes of thyme and sage.

This plump and creamy white is elegant and fresh, delivering pureed peach, heather and mango flavors that show a lightly herbaceous edge, underscored by mineral details. Refined acidity binds everything together, with honeyed accents through the spicy finish. 

The 2015 Special Reserve white is a 60/40 blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, aged for six months in 30% new French barriques. It comes in at 13% alcohol. Beautifully constructed, this controls its oak well while still seeming substantial. The finish lingers nicely on this perfectly balanced white. It is always refined, with enough weight to hold up to food. 

The 2014 Special Reserve white is a 60/40 blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, aged for six months in French barriques (30% new, the rest used). It comes in at 12.5% alcohol. This started to show well when it hit mid-50 degrees Fahrenheit. At that point, it had a touch of mushrooms and velvety texture. The mushrooms and earth gave way to fine fruit with a rich, lush feel. Then, it added some tension and grip on the finish. There's a lot going on here, but in terms of concentration and structure, it seems rather superlative this year. It finishes with flavor, tinged with a touch of metal. It will be interesting to see how this ages, but there is no harm drinking it now. It can still improve. We'll take the aging curve in stages.

Aromas of melon and barley lead to flavors of white peach, almond blossom and jasmine in this Rh?ne-style blend. A touch creamy with full mouthfeel, this wine is a delight through the bright finish, which offers a glimpse of pink grapefruit. Kosher.

Gentle aromas of citrus, thistle and marshmallow root yield to flavors of lemon curd and zest, marshmallow root, pineapple and a touch of laurel. A comfortable layer of tannins offers good mouthfeel, and the finish is zesty and refreshing, with a sophisticated savory note.
