Saint-Joseph "Les Lauves"

2015 France Rhone Valley
90 Points

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2015 St Joseph Les Lauves is a forward, medium to full-bodied, fresh, borderline sexy St Joseph that’s loaded with notions of blackberry jam, cassis, hints of crushed rocks and pepper. I suspect it will be a smoking value and Northern Rhône lovers should buy a case for drinking over the coming 3-4 years (although I suspect it will keep longer as well).

Saint-Joseph "Les Lauves"

2012 France Rhone Valley
91 Points

Made from vines that are over 60 years old and planted in the granitic soils of Saint-Jean-de Muzols. Vivid purple. Complex aromas of cassis, violet, Indian spices and smoky minerals: very syrah. Taut and linear on the plate, with bright acidity sharpening fresh black and blue fruit flavors. Shows very good concentration and focus on the finish, which is firmed by smooth, even tannins.
