BLUE FISH is a recent initiative from the enterprising growers of Niederkirchen in the Pfalz region of Germany, who first banded together to bottle and sell their wines more than 100 years ago. Today 466 families – almost every second family in Niederkirchen – participate in the venture, of which Blue Fish is the latest creation. The 2005 U.S. debut of Blue Fish Riesling met with instant success and is now widely available throughout the country. The line has since been expanded to include Sweet Riesling and a Pinot Grigio.

Of almost 1,000 acres of vines farmed by Niederkirchen growers, 62% is dedicated to Riesling. High standards are evident at all stages of the winemaking process, from impeccably maintained vineyards to a showcase winery and cellars set amid attractively landscaped grounds.

Crop thinning and green harvest are practiced in Niederkirchen, leading to heightened varietal aromas. Malolactic fermentation results in full-flavored wines with well-balanced acidity that distinguished Blue Fish from other Rieslings produced in the Pfalz.

Blue Fish varietal wines are presented in an eye-catching azure blue bottle decorated with colorful labels featuring the distinctive Blue Fish logo. Look carefully and the fish ingeniously transforms into the word “blue.”
