DBR Announces Official B Corp Certification

In early March of 2023, Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite announced their official certification as a B Corporation (B Corp). Granted by the international non-profit organization B Lab Global, B Corp status signals the highest standards of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and accountability.

This rigorous and lengthy certification process evaluates the full spectrum of a company’s social and environmental performance, corporate governance, and transparency. And after working toward this milestone for more than two years, all estates under the DBR Lafite family banner — including Châteaux Lafite Rothschild, Duhart-Milon, L'Evangile, and Rieussec, Vina Los Vascos, Bodegas CARO, and Domaine de Long Dai — have been labeled B Corps.

This phrase has been the Lafite credo and commitment for over 150 years. The estate’s official release said in part:

“Today, more than ever in this era of climate upheaval, our businesses depend on the balance of nature, our terroir, and our vines. The human being is merely the bearer of witness; there to protect.

“In other words: what we do is Cultivate to Pass on. The sixth generation of the Rothschild family is now looking after our vineyards. As a team, wherever we are in the world, we are constantly re-examining and adapting our practices to produce wines that speak about their roots and share emotions, while taking great care to ensure the well-being of our employees, our terroirs and those who will open our bottles.”
