Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs

Their origin story centers around Henri Macquart, pioneering founder of the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne, and Nicolas Feuillatte, a dynamic local businessman. Out of their shared passion for Champagne, a daring idea formed: create a new brand of excellence. An upstart that would knit together the tapestry of Champagne’s finest terroirs through an unrivaled network of heritage growers. Empowered by and headquartered at the Vinicole, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte was officially founded in 1976, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.

This Blanc de Noirs Champagne is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes carefully selected from Grand Cru villages in the Montagne de Reims. It draws its character from the soils, gaining balance and freshness from the gentle slopes of Verzy and Verzenay, and delicate spices, body and minerality from the chalky soils on the southern slopes of Bouzy. 2015 was the third hottest vintage since 1961. The switch between cooler nights and daytime heat was dramatic, while drought conditions and heat persisted through mid-August; fortunately, rain came and with it, lower temperatures allowing the grapes to develop beautifully. The resulting Pinot Noir must was fruity, linear, and intense.

Vinified in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks. Aged at least 6 years in the cellars. Chief Winemaker Guillaume Roffiaen adapts dosage levels to each champagne in order to enhance the flavors and aromas. The choice of reserve wine is paramount and takes into a consideration a whole range of factors, including the proportion of cru wines, harvest year, grape varieties and vinification and ageing methods, in order to preserve the intrinsic style of each cuvée.

Straw-yellow with glints of bronze and a fine bead that forms a lively column of bubbles in the glass. Intensely fruity primary notes of red and green plums are followed by spices, mild curry leaf, and white pepper. Impressive structure marks the attack with an incredible mineral freshness framing notes of red currant, cranberry, raspberry, lemon verbena, and Darjeeling tea. The lingering finish delivers a refreshing saline note.
