Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc Les Bartavelles

Jean-Luc Colombo has been a renowned enologist in the Rhône Valley since the early 1980s. His consultations at prestigious estates across the Rhône quickly earned him a reputation for helping produce incredible expressions of this rugged terroir. But his greatest contribution to the wine world is the exceptional wines he crafts alongside his wife, Anne, and daughter, Laure. The Cornas-based Colombo winery has earned impressive international recognition bringing modern viticultural practices to the region — and for creating beautifully concentrated, balanced, and fresh styles of syrah. Living among their vineyards and wetlands, the family have been committed to sustainable farming, achieving organic certification for their estate vineyards from Ecocert in 2016.

Les Bartavelles (the Royal Partridges) is from one of the best terroirs in the appellation which has rolled river pebbles which deliver a wine of elegance, richness, and structure.

This wine is vinified in oak barrels where it slowly ferments. It then matures in the same barrels for 12 month (15% new and the balance in one- to four- years old oak barrels.)

Pale yellow color with golden reflections. Open nose with aromas of flowers (hawthorn and linden tree), white peach and a touch of honey. A complex mouth and full-bodied, with the aromatic power, finesse and complexity of a Grand white wine. This “Grand Vin” will open within 2 to 3 years but can be aged for 10 years. Exquisite with quails and figs, delicious with a roasted pike perch and fennel. Serve chilled between 14°C and 15°C.
