Les Collines de Laure Syrah

Jean-Luc Colombo has been a renowned enologist in the Rhône Valley since the early 1980s. His consultations at prestigious estates across the Rhône quickly earned him a reputation for helping produce incredible expressions of this rugged terroir. But his greatest contribution to the wine world is the exceptional wines he crafts alongside his wife, Anne, and daughter, Laure. The Cornas-based Colombo winery has earned impressive international recognition bringing modern viticultural practices to the region — and for creating beautifully concentrated, balanced, and fresh styles of syrah. Living among their vineyards and wetlands, the family have been committed to sustainable farming, achieving organic certification for their estate vineyards from Ecocert in 2016.

Les Collines de Laure (The Hills of Laure) is a blend of grapes from granitic soils in Northern Rhone appellations, with 80% coming from 15-year-old vines of Cornas and the remainder from St Joseph and Crozes Hermitage. hThe wine is named after these hilly vineyard sites where Laure played as a child.

The grapes are grown in granitic soil typical to the Northern Rhone Valley, on 15-year-old vines from Cornas. Grapes are hand-harvested and 100% free run juice is used. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. Bottled after seven months; no oak is used.

On the nose, redcurrant, raspberry, and slight spice. The palate offers elegant, refined, and feminine notes of wild strawberry, raspberry and violet lead way to a balanced finish.
