Grand Cru Brand Riesling

Since 1626, the Trimbach family have been a reference point for fine Alsace wine. They are also one of the largest owners of Grand Cru vineyards in the region which account for an impressive third of their total production. At every level, their wines embody the celebrated Trimbach style: structured, long-lived, fruit-driven, dry, elegant, and above all balanced. Family is also central to everyday life at Trimbach. Winemaking is expertly managed by 12th-generation Pierre, alongside his nephew Julien.  Pierre’s brother, Jean, and Pierre’s daughter Anne, the eldest of the 13th generation, are global brand ambassadors. In 2023, Trimbach was certified HVE-3 Organic reflecting their dedication to creating the highest-caliber expressions of their terroir.

Brand in Turckheim is one of the most reputed Grand Cru of Alsace. It is established on 58ha and has south/south-eastern exposures. It is a warm terroir (Brand is literally translated to “fire”) formed of two micas granit. Trimbach’s parcel of nearly 1ha is 100% planted in Riesling. Vines average around 70 years. 2020 was a mild winter and spring, flowering took place at the beginning of June. What followed was a very dry and hot summer. The rain finally appeared early autumn and allowed the grapes to ripen in optimal conditions. Optimal health with acidity preserved by the surprisingly cool nights throughout the summer created for Rieslings that are dry and balanced.

Grapes were harvested at maturity then crushed and delicately pressed in a pneumatic press. Vinified in a dry style in stainless steel vats and old casks. No malolactic, or long ageing on lees in order to preserve freshness, liveliness and fruity aromas. Bottled in the spring following the harvests, then three years of ageing minimum in cellar.

Grand Cru Brand Riesling's nose is precise and reveals scents of exotic fruits. The palate is full but remains structured by a beautiful freshness which reveals a bright saline sensation. Aromas of citrus fruits and aromatic herbs, notably lemongrass, emerge subtly and gradually, culminating in superb length.
