Background

Since 1626, the Trimbach family have been a reference point for fine Alsace wine. They are also one of the largest owners of Grand Cru vineyards in the region which account for an impressive third of their total production. At every level, their wines embody the celebrated Trimbach style: structured, long-lived, fruit-driven, dry, elegant, and above all balanced. Family is also central to everyday life at Trimbach. Winemaking is expertly managed by 12th-generation Pierre, alongside his nephew Julien.  Pierre’s brother, Jean, and Pierre’s daughter Anne, the eldest of the 13th generation, are global brand ambassadors. In 2023, Trimbach was certified HVE-3 Organic reflecting their dedication to creating the highest-caliber expressions of their terroir.

TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES

Trimbach Réserves are the result of a rigorous selection from mostly old vineyards in Ribeauvilléand the surrounding villages including the vineyards of Grand Cru Kirchberg, Wiebaum, Haguenau, and a parcel of vineyard in Bergheim –the result of which produces a highly complex wines with longer ageing potential.

Winemaking & Aging

The wine is fermented to complete dryness in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. There is no secondary malolactic fermentation in order to maintain as much natural acidity as possible. Bottles remain in the cellar for three years minimum before reaching the marketplace, ensuring the wine is ready to drink upon release.

Tasting Notes

Very ripe and harmonious style, rich with yellow juicy peaches on the nose as well as ripe pears: full bodied with ripe smoky tropical fruit flavors and a long, slightly nutty finish. Rich and fragrant.

Points

Distinctive and well-done, with a pronounced earthiness sharing the stage with notes of warm apple, quince and candied ginger in this late-release wine. Time has softened the acidity on a supple, savory palate, layering toasted brioche, brine and dried flower petal details. A hint of honey water graces the elegant, well-meshed finish. Drink now through 2028. 19,500 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.—K.B.
