Estate Merlot Wickersham Ranch

Noble Tree was originally founded as a passion project by two sommeliers/restaurateurs to produce wines for their fellow industry friends. Production began as a true “garagistes-négociant” style winery, focusing on healthy vineyard sources, hand harvesting and honest winemaking practices. In 2019, Marc Taub of Taub Family Vineyards became proprietor of Noble Tree, upholding the mission and essence of the winemaking philosophy: to respect varietal character and reflect the vineyard site and vintage conditions in each wine.

This wine is sourced entirely from the Wickersham Ranch Vineyard that is located in Northwest Sonoma county, This wine is sourced entirely from the Wickersham Ranch Vineyard that is located in Northwest Sonoma county, wedged between the Rockpile AVA and the Sonoma Coast AVA. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, and Malbec at an elevation of 2,200 feet on a western facing slope. The vineyard is one of the most remote sites in all of Sonoma County and offers the ideal microclimate to grow grapes for the production of mountain Merlot of the highest quality.

Harvested at 24.5 brix, sorted and cold soaked for five days, this wine was fermented with native yeast and aged for 16 month in 100% French oak, 40% new. Sourced from the Wickersham Ranch Estate Vineyard, this is a classic example of a medium bodied, cooler climate Merlot. Aged for 16 months in French oak, 40% new.

A beautiful, dark ruby-purple colored Merlot. Aromas of lead pencil and spiced red fruits. Flavors of blackberry and black pepper with an almost spicy texture. Finishes with well-defined, chalky tannins.
